Glencullen Community Centre is run by volunteers supported by Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council. The hall known locally as ‘The Library’ has long had a special place in the hearts of the local community.
The committee intends to focus, in particular, on activities relating to the Arts and this exhibition was the first of many cultural events showcasing the incredible talent in the area and beyond.
The committee didn’t have to look far to find local talented artists Con Gent and Andrew Halada and they were delighted when they agreed to jointly hold an Art Exhibition showcasing their amazing sculptures.
Award winning sculpture Con Gent lives in Glencullen and his work is in private collections of some of Ireland’s leading artists, collectors and connoisseurs. He has created many large-scale public
sculptures which can be seen around the country. His tactile work can be described as ‘transcending the obvious’ causing the viewer to look beyond the piece to the story it tells.
Andrew Halada lives in Enniskerry and this is his first exhibition! His work can be described as imaginative, humorous and experimental. He looks for non-obvious connections, shapes, metaphors and rhymes, producing a surprising new creation with artistry and skill.
Congratulations to both Artists!
The committee look forward to hosting more events in the near future.
