About our Community Hall
Opened in 1907, The Carnegie Library was built by the Carnegie Foundation using lands donated by the Fitzsimon family of Glencullen House. (See History tag). The building was used solely as a library but many social events took place as the decades went by, including dances and musical events. In 2009 local residents with support from the community section of Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council formed the Glencullen Community Hall Management Committee. The current phase of the building’s history recognises the needs of a modern community looking to use a community space in particular in relation to the promotion of the Arts.
The committee gives up their time voluntarily and welcomes anybody interested in using the hall for purposes relating to social events and the Arts. Treehouse Preschool and Montessori currently use the facilities during the day with local groups such as the Men’s Shed (Fridays) using the hall at night. See upcoming events tab for further information.
